"We will respond strongly in principle without any leniency or agreement" (SM)

Singer BoA shared the process of taking legal actions against malicious rumor spreaders.

SM Entertainment(SM) said on BoA's official SNS on the 17th, "We will reveal the progress of the complaint against criminal acts such as malicious rumors related to BoA."  

A legal representative was appointed for fast legal proceedings. The law firm Sejong have taken charge of the case. SM filed a lawsuit against certain online users for defamation. 

The agency also revealed detailed cases, saying, "We confirmed a number of malicious posts on 'Dcinside." 

Complaints are also being filed against other online community users and YouTube channel operators. SM explained, "They posted false facts, slander, and sexual harassment."

SM announced, "We confirmed that false information and rumors based on malicious posts have been recreating and circulating through short-form content," adding, "We will take a strong legal action."

SNS users in overseas are also subject to legal action. SM added, "We are also reviewing overseas requests for cooperation in investigations and whether a complaint can be filed."

SM underscored, "We plan to continue screening targets of accusations and filing additional complaints," adding, "We will respond strongly in principle without any leniency or agreement."

Lastly, the agency said, "We are monitoring illegal activities against all artists besides BoA. We will proceed with the complaint from time to time after consultation."

Meanwhile, BoA posted on her SNS on the 6th by hinting at her desire to retire. Fans are rooting for BoA saying, they too have felt the psychological burden from malicious rumors.
