BTS had dethroned a powerful figure in the industry. Taylor Swift had a record of six hours.
World ARMY are back at it again. The fans have memorized the song in a matter of a day. They analyzed and observed the music video with their eagle eyes.
“Dispatch” questioned the fans on the 20th, on their idea of the most memorable part of the music video. We played the video and let their facial expressions do all the reacting.
BEST ①. (MV 0:19~0:25) ♬ For you I could pretend like I was happy when I was sad/For you I could pretend like I was strong when I was hurt.
That’s the intro to the song. Seven dark, shadows stay still till the song starts and they move one by one. The dancing was typical of BTS; hooked the second it starts.
Janine (22, San Francisco): It’s the intro for me. They were dancing behind a large statue. The whole video was art.
Dorothy (21, Las Vegas):
Oh Yes! It’s the first part for me too. When V starts singing, the members all move in harmony like a drawing. It’s the best.
Chelsea (21, Las Vegas):
That’s hot! All the seven members move in sync and in perfect harmony. As expected, they’re just different.
BEST ②. (MV 1:18~1:20) ♬ Try babbling in the mirror, who are you?
The “mirror dance” with J-Hope and Jungkook was also brought to attention. The two members face each other and dance in perfect synchronization. The highlight of this dance is the finger pointing part you see above.
Vanessa (19, Las Vegas): I got chills while watching J-Hope and Jungkook’s ‘mirror dance.’ It spoke to me on another level and it looked like a real reflection.
Liza (19, Las Vegas):
People also need to pay close attention to the part at the two minute and thirty second time mark! RM and Jungkook face each other. RM stares into Jungkook and walks into the mirror. The scene looks as if they became one person. That was interesting to see.
BEST ③. (MV 1:57~2:02) ♬ Love it’s so mad Love it’s so mad
This is Jungkook’s personal favorite scene from the video. As Jungkook runs, the floor (meant to be perceived as love) starts falling from underneath, one by one. This particular part is arguably one of the most popular scenes.
Storm (16, Las Vegas):
I love this scene! It’s so dramatic. The whole video is great, but this scene has to be the best.
Dominique (23, Chile): Jungkook runs out of his room and into the hallway. I thought the scene was amazing. It was like the movie, “Inception.”
BEST ④. (MV 4:00~4:05, 4:09~4:10) ♬ No lines.
This scene can be analyzed in many different ways. Jimin stands alone as water pours out from either side of him. However, he remains calm and collected. How did the fans analyze this? We asked them just that.
Maria (21, Dallas): We can’t leave out water with Jimin. From his early debut days, water has always been Jimin’s symbol. Therefore, I’m glad they incorporated it this time around too.
Verselles (23, Las Vegas): Word has it that the water in the scene is actual water. I thought it was CG. I think it was important for the story of the video.
BEST ⑤. (MV 4:25~4:27) ♬ Love you so bad Love you so bad
Jungkook let his shirt slip up a bit, and in the process, tease the fans. Army noticed this right away and made this into the big issue it should’ve been, respectively. Thanks to the exposure of his upper body, it made rounds at the 1028 Billboards Music awards.
Jaylene (10, Las Vegas): All the scenes are really good so it’s hard to pickjust one, but I was surprised at Jungkook’s abs. Oh my god!
Clara (19, LA): I wasn’t able to sleep due to Jungkook’s abs. Are they going to show each of the members’ abs one by one? In 2013, it was Jimin’s abs (laugh)

This is the highlight of the music video. BTS had depicted a portrayal of the three wise monkeys. They cover their eyes, mouths, and ears.
Amanda (18, LA): I think it brings the best out of the music video. The video goes so well with the lyrics, It’s to the extent that I got chills.
Mackenzie (22, Florida): I think I watched the music video about like seventy times. I especially love this part. Jimin’s dance movements are also very breathtaking.
Audrey (19, San Francisco):
The lyrics are “I’m so sick of this fake love.” The way I interpreted it was "If you don’t love yourself, no one else will."
Natalie (43, Chile): I agree with this too. The choreography is just beautiful. It’s like they were all hiding emotions until the release of the song, and they just poured all of it into the video.
Army around the world are staring back at BTS with hopeful eyes and creativity that can reach the roof.
BTS thanked their fans and didn’t forget to greet their fans standing further away. They spent that time communicating with their fans, just as they always did.

Lastly, there was one particular part to this day that made a lasting impression on us. It’s the way the fans maturely handled the arrival of BTS at Tom Bradley terminal in LA.
