The fashion of the early 2000s are back. Low-rise skirts are typically worn around one’s hips, a little below the belly button, depending on the length of the person's torso.
The popular skirt made its mainstream debut with the likes of Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton and more. A low-rise skirt was often worn with a cropped shirt, whilst exposing the stars’ toned abs.
Much like a lot of items or fashion statements making a return this year, the youth of generation Z had taken liking to the once, trendy skirt. This year, Italian high fashion clothing brand Miu Miu, has released a low-rise skirt.
Stars suchas Nicole Kidman, Kiko Mizuhara, Zendaya, Snsd’s Yoona, actress Lee Yoo Mi, Kim Dami, Irene, Shin Hyun-ji, and Kim Na Young have recently joined in on the return of the garment.

"Why the return of low-rise skirts?"
The generation of the low-rise skirts are raising their brows at the sudden return of the garment that has long since been out of the public eye. For a long time, high waisted pants seemed to be all the rage. The high-waist pants or skirts helped accentuate and give the illusion of longer legs. The pants have also gotten noticeably more loose on the ends.
However, the recent trends seem to be going back to retro or a while back. The release of the garment from Miu Miu has settled the debate- is the low-rise skirt trendy again?
A representative for a high-fashion brand commented, “Miu Miu has since released a few low-rise skirts. They are especially trying to release the style of ‘Chino pants.’ In order to do so, they’re slowly introducing changes in style.”
The noticeable part to the piece of garment is that the skirt is as short as roughly, 7.8 inches. The skirt available for purchase is however, 15 inches long.

Stars such as Yoona, Lee Yoo Mi, Kim Na Young, and Irene have been photographed, wearing the trendy garment. The women also wore the skirts with cropped shirts. The look is casual and chic, but also adds a hint of sexiness to it.
The garment was usually worn to boast one’s abs. Yoona, Lee Yoo Mi, Kim Nayoung, and Irene all showcased their slim figures through the cropped shirt and low-rise skirt.
Yoona had opted to showcase her stunning hips, while Lee Yoo Mi had chose to look more chic and cute. Model Irene exposed her slight abs, and Kim Nayoung had went the causal route.
◆ If that’s too much, style it with a formal shirt or blouse.
If the pictures above are too revealing, one can choose to style the short skirt with a formal shirt. Actresses Kim Dami, Shin Hyun Ji, and Yoona were all seen wearing a blue button-down shirt with the garment.
The choice of the ankle socks was a clever choice. The socks accentuate one’s legs while looking casual.
The shoes can also completely change one’s entire outfit. Yoona chose a pair of white sneakers, giving off the look of a college student. Kim Dami and Shin Hyun Ji wore pointy, dress shoes to fit a more business appropriate atmosphere.

The return of the fashion piece from the early 2000s are being worn by celebrities today. Nicole Kidman, Zendaya, and Kiko Mizuhara. The actresses and models alike wore cropped shirts that slightly cover their chests, low-rise skirts, and ankle socks or ankle boots to accentuate.
Kiko Mizuhara rocked the skirts with a cropped shirt and a wolf-cut hairstyle. Zendaya brought back the style of the early 2000s with shiny silver boots.
