Astro’s member MJ is currently undergoing military service in South Korea, but he appears to be having a troublesome time as the military base is receiving numerous prank calls.
Fantagio Entertainment Company said, “Recently the number of prank calls to MJ’s military base is increasing and this is extremely concerning.” They added, “In order for MJ to complete his service in peace, we ask of you to not make any prank calls. If this continues, we will press charges.”
In South Korea, there is a law to protect this act, therefore multiple prank calls to military units may result in legal penalties. Allegations for the obstruction of executing official duties can be charged, and is dealt with seriously in South Korea.
Since his dispatch in September last year, he has undergone basic military training, and will fulfill his military duty in the military band.
The official statement released from Fantagio reads:
" Firstly, we would like to thank all of MJ’s fans who have supported him since last year in September when he started his military service.
Recently, there have been many reported cases of prank calls to MJ’s military unit, and it is on the rise.
Any phone call that could disrupt official duties is a crime, and will most definitely affect MJ.
We remind you again that continued prank calls, especially to the military, is a serious criminal offense, and we will press charges if the prank calls continue.
We ask you to stop making prank calls to MJ’s military unit and ask for your respect to the military and MJ as he serves official duties in the military.
Our agency will continue to support our artist MJ and ensure he will not be disturbed during national services."
