On June 17th, SBS-TV's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Today's Webtoon' (written by Jo Ye-Rang and Lee Jae-Eun, directed by Jo Soo-Won and Kim Young-Hwan) released photos from the site of the actors who got together for script reading.
The script rehearsal took place earlier this year in April at the SBS Tanhyeon Production Center. Major cast members such as Kim Se-Jeong, Nam Yoon-su, Choi Daniel, Kim Kap-Soo, Park Ho-San, Yang Hyun-Min, Ha Do-Kwon, and Nam Bo-Ra attended.
Director Jo Soo-Won opened the door with a warm greeting saying, “I hope that the flowers start in spring and become the fruits of autumn.” On behalf of all actors, Kim Kap-Soo vowed to “set an example as an elder.”
'Today's Webtoon' is a drama depicting the dynamic office life of the webtoon industry. It tells the story around a former judo athlete, On Ma-Eum, who has taken up a new role as webtoon editor after ending her career in judo due to an injury.
Kim Se-Jeong plays On Ma-Eum, who is a strong-willed character and challenges herself in the new field of work. She holds a positive vibe and spreads a ‘happy virus’ around those around her.
According to a site official, when she was at the rehearsal, she made playful jokes and even added world play, which made the scene into a sea of laughter.
Nam Yoon-Su plays the role of Goo Jun-Young, who joined the company in the same year as On Ma-Eum. With an IQ of 150, he reaches the best with ease. The plot revolves around the two new editors growing together.
At the rehearsal, Nam Yoon-Su showed a different side of acting that had not been seen before in his previous work. He confidently showed himself fully engaged in his role of a smart and charming character.
Daniel Choi plays Seok Ji-Hyung who is the deputy editor. He is a character that can seem mean and too honest at times, but knows how to take care of his juniors from behind.
During the script reading, Daniel Choi showed off his detailed acting skills such as adjusting the strength and weakness of his voice and tone according to the situation. An insider pointed out, "the rehearsal with Choi has only proven his acting skills that will be on screens very soon.”
The luxurious cast of supporting actors also stood out. Park Ho-San plays Chief Editor, Jang Man-Chul, and on this day he showed off his character's charms to the full with his polished acting skills.
Ha Do-kwon who plays Heo Gwan-Young, is a character full of ambition and covets the position of general director. Hence, during the rehearsal, whenever the two confronted, the scene was so tense that it froze.
Kim Se-Jeong said, "I was so nervous for the rehearsal like it was the first filming. It was so much fun even just to rehearse.“ She added, “I think the actual filming site will be one hundred times more fun and exciting than the rehearsal so I am really looking forward to it!”
The production team said, “The drama is a warm story that anyone can fall in love with, especially the younger generation who are struggling between dreams and reality. Also, to any office worker that tries to get through hardships and endure with it every day, they will be able to relate to the drama.”
'Today's Webtoon' is to broadcast as a follow-up of 'Why Her'. The drama will hit the screens at 21:00 every week starting from July 29th.
