Twice’s Nayeon writes history as she kicks off her solo debut. US Billboard revealed their latest chart on July 6th, showing Nayeon at 7th on ‘Billboard 200’ with her solo debut album 'IM NAYEON.'
This is the highest record in history for a K-pop solo artist. Nayeon has sold 57,000 albums in the past week, sweeping off high places for 'Top Current Album Sales', 'Top Album Sales', and 'World Album' charts.
It is a significant record. Nayeon made her debut as the first K-pop solo artist to top the 'Top Album Sales' chart. In addition, as of this year, she became the first female solo artist to debut at No. 1 on the World Albums chart.
She also set other first-time records such as, 'Artist 100' (#5), 'Billboard Japan Hot' (#5), 'World Digital Song Sales' (#7), 'TasteMaker Album' (#7) and 'Global Billboard 200' (#30), overall a total of 18 different categories.
The new album is titled 'Im Nayeon' which uses Nayeon's full name Lim Nayeon. "I am Nayeon" (I'm Nayeon) is also another interpretation showing confidence with a self-titled album.
The title track 'Pop!' is a captivating song that promises to pop the opponent's heart out, which has swollen like a bubble. The addictive tune and Nayeon's bouncing energy has truly created a fantastic synergy.
Nayeon’s solo album is also popular in Korea and has been topping charts on various local music charts including Melon, Bugs, Genie and Vibe. As of July 7th at 07:00 (KST), the music video had over 60 million views.
Nayeon released her first solo album on June 24th and is currently actively promoting her new albumwith the title track ‘Pop!’
