Twice has renewed their contract with JYP Entertainment. On July 12th, JYP Entertainment announced via 'Dispatch', "we have finished renewing the contract with all nine members of Twice and based on our strong trusted relationship, we look forward to the next chapter."
The agency emphasized, "JYP will not spare any support or energy to ensure that Twice will grow as the best global K-pop girl group.”
After renewing the contract, member Sana uploaded a photo on her Instagram showing the nine members of Twice holding hands, with the comment “9wice”, implying the importance of the group as a whole.
Twice made their debut in October 2015, and since then, have produced many hit songs, setting records both in the Korean charts as well as internationally. In addition to winning the grand prize at various music award ceremonies, the cumulative sales of albums in Korea and Japan have well exceeded 10 million, and they have made a new record by achieving to lodge at the Tokyo Dome in the shortest time since debut as an overseas artist.
Moreover, the girl group topped the US charts at third place for 'Billboard 200', and have set a record by achieving more than 100 million views for their MV, which is the most MV views amongst girl groups in the world.
Twice have continued to boast their popularity worldwide. In the Americas tour titled 'Twice 4th World Tour 3', all seats were sold out for nine performances in five cities in the US.
Not only in the US but in Japan, for the first time in history of foreign artists, they held three consecutive performances at the Tokyo Dome, which is commonly known as the 'Holy Land of Japanese Performance'.
Aside from group activities, leader Nayeon made her first solo debut last month, and continued to top the charts. Nayeon’s 1st mini album “I’m Nayeon” peaked at seventh on the Billboard 200 chart, making her the first K-pop solo artist to enter Top 10.
