Girl group aespa's second mini-album 'Girls' has set a record for selling the greatest number of pre-order albums for a K-pop girl group. The number of albums sold was 1.61 million for pre-orders and continued to sell out even after its release. Setting a record at 1.42 million sold in just the first week it dropped the charts, aespa wrote history as this was the highest number sold for a girl group according to Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart).
Aespa's second mini-album 'Girls' was released on July 8th and includes a total of nine tracks. The title track is also named ‘Girls’ along with six new tracks in various genres, in addition to a track list of previously released tracks.
Moreover, the girl group recently made an appearance at the ‘GMA Summer Concert Series’, an outdoor concert hosted by ABC Channel’s ‘Good Morning America’, making them the first K-pop girl group to perform at the concert.
They also gave a speech at the opening of the 2022 High-Level Forum for Sustainable Development, ticking off another milestone for the group as the first K-pop girl group to do so.
The girl group will be performing on Mnet’s M Countdown later today to perform ‘Girls’ and ‘Illusion’, which are two new tracks from their new album.
