BTS' Jimin has been recognized internationally for his producing talents.
The Recording Association of Japan recently released a list of works certified for the month of July. Within the listing, Jimin's self-composed song 'Friend' was certified as 'Gold' by the Association. This is the first time a BTS song has made it into the listing.
The Recording Association of Japan classifies songs into four different levels based on cumulative streams, including silver (30 million), gold (50 million), platinum (100 million) and diamond (500 million).
The song 'Friends' exceeded 50 million cumulative streams, hence was certified as gold.
'Friend' is a song from BTS' 4th album 'Map of the Soul: 7', and is particularly more meaningful as Jimin participated in producing, composing and writing lyrics. It was also selected as the OST for Marvel movie 'The Eternals'.
This song is much loved by global fans. On Spotify, the world’s largest streaming company, ‘Friends’ exceeded 175 million streams and 130 million streams on Melon.
Jimin is well known to have previously set various records for self-composed songs. He holds the record of being the first Korean solo artist to have obtained gold certification for a total of three songs from the Recording Industry Association of America.
