YG Entertainment announced that they were to take strong legal action against the spread of Blackpink’s Jennie private photo leak. Amidst the circulation of personal photos which also included supposed images of a boyfriend who resembles BTS’ V, the police have started their investigation to hunt the person or people down.
YG Entertainment released a statement to say, "We have refrained from commenting on the matter to minimize any further damage.” The statement continued to read, “However, there have been indiscriminate rumors, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment and violations of personal life sparked by those private photographs. We are now announcing that we will take legal action and correct the situation.”
YG also revealed that after continuous monitoring, they had filed a lawsuit in September. The agency urged people to refrain from sharing photos circulated online regardless of their intentions, as sharing them constitutes a secondary offense. “Photos that were circulated online were illegally released, regardless of the intentions behind them and without the consent of the individual involved, this can be criminally punished”, said the agency.
Blackpink’s Jennie and BTS’ V dating rumours spread online in May after several photos of the two spread rapidly online. Up until now, neither Jennie nor V have publicly commented on the leaks and rumours about their relationship however both YG Entertainment and Big Hit Music have filed separate criminal complaint over the defamatory posts.
