Stray Kids climb to the top of Billboard’s chart with 'Maxident'
by. soobyn Park

Stray Kids have climbed to the top of Billboard’s main album chart 'Billboard 200' for the second time in their career with their newly released album 'Maxident.’

According to articles, Stray Kids have recorded selling out 117,000 copies of the album in the US. With this record, Stray Kids have become the second artist to once again top ‘Billboard 200’, following on from their previous success ‘Oddinary’ in March this year.

Amongst all the K-pop artists, Stray Kids is the second group after BTS to rank first in ‘Billboard 200’ more than once.

An official from Billboard said, "The album ‘Maxident’ sold 110,000 copies this year, which is the fourth highest number. This makes 'Maxident' the 16th highest ranking album in all of Billboard’s history, and the 4th non-English album this year.”

Succeeding from the previous album ‘Oddinary’, Stray Kids managed to achieve #1 in just over half a year. Even within K-pop history, a #1 ranking is a big achievement, following on from six times for BTS, twice for Stray Kids and once for SuperM and Blackpink.

The new album 'Maxident' is a mix of the English words 'max', 'maximum', 'accident' and 'incident'. It holds the meaning of a ‘big event' that occurred by chance and without notice. The album includes the title track 'Case 143', ‘Chill’, 'Give Me Your TMI', 'Super Board', '3RACH', ‘Taste’, ‘Can’t Stop’, 'TASTE' and ‘Circus.’

Based on the Hanteo Chart, Stray Kids achieved the double million seller title as they sold out over 2 million copies in just one week of its release.

On October 7th, member Bang Chan revealed his thoughts on the burden of being number one at a press conference by saying, "I will accept the pressure as a stimulus for creativity and will work harder."

Han added, "I think we have matured and grown step by step with the release of every album. I am determined to step up higher than ‘Oddinary’ early this year.”

In the meantime, Stray Kids will hold the 'Second World Tour Maniac' starting from next month, which includes touring around 16 cities across the world.
