On December 4th at 23:30 (KST), Suga exceeded 400 million views on Youtube for his newly released music video of his solo single ‘Daechwita.’ Since his last release in 2020, in two and a half years, Suga has surely made an epic comeback.
'Daechwita' is the title track from his second mixtape 'D-2.’ Suga’s dynamic and intense rap skills are elevated a degree higher, with trap beats and the addition of Korean traditional instruments. Like the title itself, it has been characterized by sampling the Korean traditional military music ‘Daechwita.’
The music video shows aspects of traditional culture and beauty of Korea. Suga is expressed as two contrasting characters, one dressed in the traditional costume hanbok, and the other dressed in a modern and casual outfit. His passionate performance is eye-catching, with the setting of a Korean traditional palace, replicated from the olden days.
'D-2' is a mixtape released by Suga under the stage name ‘Agust D.’ With this track, Suga has become the first Korean solo singer to simultaneously make it into US Billboard’s main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ and main single chart ‘Hot 100.’
‘Daechwita’ has also set a new record for reaching the highest ranking by a Korean solo artist in the UK, ranking 7th on the ‘Top 100 Official Album Chart.’
