On December 6th, YG Entertainment announced that Blackpink has been crowned ‘Entertainer of the Year’ by TIME.
It is the first time ever that a girl group has been selected in this category.
Time said, "Blackpink is the biggest girl group in the world and a trend-setting icon of the present era that no one can deny. They have broken many records in various fields and are believed to do so even more.”
Time continued, “they appeared at the VMAs in August and performed for their latest blockbuster tour which kicked off in October and will hit 27 cities over nine months.” TIME added, “Blackpink continues to dominate on YouTube being the biggest musical act with over 83 million subscribers.”
Blackpink revealed, “We are happiest when we are doing music.”
The girl group were titled in TIME's ‘Next 100’ back in 2019, and nominated for ‘Person of the Year’ in 2020. Next year, Blackpink will meet global fans all over the world with scheduled tours in Asia and Oceania.
