Chinese-Canadian star Kris Wu, a former member of K-pop group EXO, has been sentenced to thirteen years in prison in China, for rape.
According to China's Sina Entertainment on December 8th, if the first trial is confirmed, Kris Wu will be deported to Canada after he serves thirteen years in a Chinese prison, with the possibility of undergoing chemical castration in his home country.
Canada is a country that actively implements “chemical castration,” which is conducted on sex offenders to lower levels of sexual hormones. Therefore, the prospect is high that Kris Wu will not be able to avoid this procedure. According to reports, in Canada, it is said that forced chemical castration is possible without the consent of the sex offender himself.
Kris Wu has stated that he intends to appeal against the Chinese court's decision.
Previously, on November 25th, the Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing sentenced Kris to 11 years and 6 months in prison for rape and 1 year and 10 months in prison for mass lewdness, respectively, and ordered Chris to be deported abroad when the sentence is over.
Kris Wu was arrested with rape allegations charges in July last year. The allegations were that he raped three women between November and December of 2020, and on July 1st in 2018 at his home.
Kris’ crime was revealed by his ex-girlfriend, an anonymous Ms A who claimed that there were more than eight people who had suffered sexual crimes against Kris, including two underaged women.
Kris Wu rose to fame with his debut as an EXO member, making his debut with the group in 2012. He left the group in 2014 after an exclusive contract invalidation lawsuit. Since then, he continued his career in China as a singer and actor.
