On December 10th, T-ara’s former member Jiyeon and baseball player Hwang Jae-Gyun held a private wedding ceremony at The Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Top stars gathered on this special day to congratulate the two. IU and Lee Hong-Ki from FT Island sang congratulatory wedding songs for the newlyweds. Also, aside from former members of T-ara, BTS Jin made his appearance.
Baseball players Ryu Hyunjin, Kang Baek-Ho and Oh Seung-Hwan, as well as commentator Yoo Hee-Gwan, gathered on the day as the groom’s friends.
Soon after the wedding, photos and videos taken from the wedding soon went viral online. In particular, IU's invite was a surprise to fans. However it is known that IU and Jiyeon have been close friends since starring as guests on SBS entertainment show ‘Sunday is Good – Heroes.’ For BTS' Jin, it is known that he is good friends with the groom Hwang Jae-Gyun. Jin was seen enjoying the wedding as a sincere friend of the couple, spraying petals on the pair as they made their first steps into a wedding march.
In addition, T-ara members such as Hyomin, Eunjung, and Qri attended the wedding ceremony and showed strong friendship. In November last year, the group released an album for fans, titled ‘Re:T-ARA.’ The group members all celebrated the youngest member Jiyeon’s wedding, by sharing photos and videos of the wedding scene on their social media accounts.
On this day, Hyomin posted a selfie on her Instagram with the caption, "I'm sending off the youngest to get married." Hyomin was seen wearing a black mini dress with cute puff sleeves.
Hyomin also uploaded a picture of the groom dancing to T-ara's popular song 'Bo Peep Bo Peep' and Michael Jackson's song. Member Qri also revealed a picture of the wedding photos which decorated the reception hall with the comment, “congratulations to my beautiful sister.”
Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-Gyun met through an acquaintance last year and developed their relationship, overcoming the 6-year age gap. After announcing the news of their marriage directly in February this year, the couple have shown affection for each other by revealing snippets from their daily life via their social media accounts.
