Hallyu ban? Yuqi became model for Chinese cosmetic brand
by. Una lee

(G)I-DLE's Yuqi has been selected as a model for a Chinese cosmetics brand.

Yuqi signed an exclusive contract with INTO YOU, a color cosmetics brand, on February 21. She will represent the brand for a year.

The love call of beauty brands continues. Yuqi signed SNS advertising contracts with Chando, Tom Ford, and Armani.

The contract was selected as a model despite the ban on Korean Wave (Korean Wave). China has restricted K-pop singers' activities in China since the THAAD incident.

Yuqi is a Chinese member, but she belongs to a K-pop group. The main stage of activity is Korea. In line with the political situation, China focused on individual activities, not groups.

Yuqi released her first digital single 'A Page' in May 2021.

The reaction was hot. The single titles 'Giant' and 'Bonnie and Clyde' swept the Chinese music scene. It ranked first in the Weibo real-time search word TikTok Challenge rankings.

The popularity of its group is also unique. (G)I-DLE topped the annual chart of China's largest music platform "Wang Yiwin Music" with "TOMBOY" and "Nxde" last year.

As a result, Yuqi is enjoying top-notch popularity in China. Her Weibo followers exceeded 7.58 million. It ranks third overall among K-pop idols.

An official said, "There are a lot of advertising inquiries from Chinese companies around Yuqi," adding, "We are also looking forward to (G)I-DLE's activities in China as expectations are rising for the lifting of the restriction."
