Former member of Big Bang, Seungri (Lee Seung-hyun), was spotted hanging out and drinking with an Indonesian tycoon in the recent days.
Grace Tahir, who is the second-generation of the Mayapada Group and ranks fifth richest in the Indonesian business community, shared a video clip of Seungri shaking soju bottles on her Instagram account on April 23rd.
The video was taken by Grace Tahir herself during a short trip to Korea, when she met up with the former K-pop star Seungri. Seungri shares a trick with the soju, saying, “shaking the soju bottle is a Korean tradition” and hits the bottom of the bottle with his elbow.
The latest sighting of Seungri has sparked mixed reactions from global K-Pop fans. Following the online buzz, Grace Tahir herself spoke up on Instagram and said, "I was really surprised because I did not expect him to be this popular. But he seems well, physically and mentally healthy. I asked how his parents were, he said they were also good." She added, "He likes to talk and does not want to hide anymore."
Regarding the malicious comments on Seungri's video, Grace said, "He is now a free man. We did not gather to do anything illegal.”
In January 2020, Seungri was indicted on nine charges, including prostitution, prostitution mediation, sexual assault crimes, habitual gambling, violation of foreign exchange laws, violation of hygiene laws, embezzlement and aggravated punishment for specific economic crimes.
In the first trial, he was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of 1.1569 billion KRW, however, in an appeal trial, Seungri’s sentence was reduced to 18 months in prison. After serving 18 months, Seungri was released from prison on February 9th earlier this year.
