On May 3rd, Exo’s Kai held a live broadcast on his Instagram and announced his upcoming enlistment to fans.
The star expressed to fans, “I am ensliting for mandatory military service. If I could have planned more activities to meet you all beforehand, it would have been great but I am regretful I could not do that.”
He continued, “I actually had prepared a lot and am sorry I could not showcase more before my enlistment but I promise to show you all when I come back.”
He then shed tears as he said, “I miss my fans so much, even now. If only I could see all of you before.”
SM Entertainment announced, “Kai was under preparation for Exo’s comeback but due to recent changes in military service regulations, he will be enlisting."
Kai will enlist in the army training center on May 11th and is expected to serve as a social service worker after his basic military training.
No special farewell event will be held. SM Entertainment said, "We respect Kai's wish to quietly enlist on the day and we will not disclose the location or time for safety reasons.”
Fans are speculative as to how Exo’s comeback will be modified without their leader Kai. Stay in tune!
