YG's rookie girl group 'BABYMONSTER' is drawing attention with the promise of the birth of a ‘monster rookie group.’

According to YG Entertainment on May 7th, BABYMONSTER's official YouTube channel exceeded 2 million subscribers at 15:12 (KST) the previous day. It took only 129 days to reach this record since the opening of the channel last year on December 28th. This marks the shortest period for any K-pop girl group in history to reach the 2 million subscriber mark.

The number of subscribers on YouTube is considered an indicator of a loyal fandom and a forecaster of success. This milestone provides a glimpse into the high expectations of global music fans for BABYMONSTER, which YG has openly been preparing diligently for a long period of time.

In particular, considering the fact that the members are still trainees who have not officially made their debut yet, the fandom is a significant achievement. So far, the pre-debut content includes solo performance clips, live covers and dance performances of the seven potential members. 

The intense interest from global fans has resulted in nearly 400 million views cumulatively of BABYMONSTER clips on YG’s official YouTube channel.

US Billboard has also focused their attention on BABYMONSTER as ‘K-pop Artists to Watch’, expressing positive expectations that will be brought by the group to add to the wave of K-pop genre.

Since Blackpink’s debut seven years ago, BABYMONSTER is YG’s rookie girl group which consists of potential members: Ahyeon (Korean), Haram (Korean), Rora (Korean), Pharita (Thai), Chiquita (Thai), Ruka (Japanese) and Asa (Japanese). The seven potential members possess exceptional vocal, dance and rap skills as all-rounders, and have generated high expectations in the global music market.

The final debut members will be announced in the upcoming days at midnight on May 12th.
