BTS's Jimin shines as a global superstar with three Guinness World Records certifications.
On June 2nd, Guinness World Records announced that BTS member Jimin has set two new records on the world's largest music-sharing platform, SoundCloud, with his first self-composed song, 'Promise,' during the group's break from team activities for solo endeavors.
The first record is for reaching 330 million streams on SoundCloud on June 17, 2023, making it the most-streamed song on the platform. 'Promise' was Jimin's first self-composed track, unexpectedly released on December 31, 2018.
Within 24 hours of its release, it surpassed all expectations, breaking the previous record set by world-famous rapper Drake's 'Duppy Freestyle' with 8.5 million streams in 24 hours, a record that remains unbroken.
The second record is achieving 275.1 million streams within the shortest period in June 2021, securing the top spot for the most-streamed song on SoundCloud in history. Jimin has consistently held the number one spot, showcasing his 'Jimin Power' in the global music market.
With this, Jimin has now officially earned two Guinness World Records certifications through 'Promise' and, in total, holds three Guinness World Records, including being the fastest K-pop solo artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify in 393 days, surpassing the previous record of 403 days.
Furthermore, global media outlet 'Viral Takes' highlighted Jimin's remarkable achievements that should be recorded on Guiness World Records, including being the first Korean solo singer to top the Billboard 'Hot 100,' ranking first on Spotify's global top song chart, and holding the top spot in iTunes in over 100 countries.
