by. Kim jiwon

BTS's Jung Kook has joined the lineup alongside previously announced headliners of the 2023 Global Citizen Festival.

According to Global Citizen's social media page, Jung Kook of BTS will join the Global Citizen Festival lineup at the concert in New York's Central Park on September 23.

Global Citizen Festival is an annual music festival where fans take actions toward ending extreme poverty in order to earn free tickets. The festival has been held every year since 2012.

In 2021, BTS performed on Global Citizen Live with Sungnyemun Gate in the background.

Jung Kook is making one of his first live solo appearances at the Global Citizen Festival. The singer has been added to the lineup as a co-headliner alongside Anitta, Ms. Lauryn Hill and Red Hot Chili Peppers, being the first Korean solo artist to perform as a headliner at the Festival.

Jung Kook stated, "I'm so thrilled to join this year's Global Citizen Festival as a headliner! The festival sheds light on important causes and drives action and I'm happy to take part in it. I can't wait to perform in front of many people on the Great Lawn in Central Park."

Meanwhile, Jung Kook's 'Seven' is nominated for the Song of Summer category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards to be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on August 12.
