BTS's V: "I Gave My Father a Car with My First Earnings, My Siblings Don't Openly Talk About Me" (You Quiz)

BTS's V brought both touching and cheerful moments as he talked about his family.

V appeared on the 210th episode of the tvN variety show 'You Quiz on the Block,' which aired on September 6th under the special theme of "Shaking the World."

During the episode, V shared behind-the-scenes stories related to his previous appearance on 'You Quiz on the Block' where he mentioned, "My dad is my dream." He recalled, "It seems like my dad cried while watching the show. I watched it live, and my dad called me afterward, holding back tears, and said, 'You did really well.'"

When the hosts said, "Your father is very handsome," V humbly replied, "He doesn't look like that nowadays." He then shared that his father had a habit of saying, "The only thing that remains is family," since V's elementary school days, which brought laughter to the set.

V said if he were to have his own show much like "Jinny's Kitchen", he said he would like a traveling show, either with the members or his family. To this, Yoo Jae-suk suggested that the show's title should be "The Only Thing That Remains is Family," eliciting more laughter.

V also revealed that he used his first earnings to do a kind gesture for his father. He explained, "My dad had been in the clothing business for a very long time. He used to go to Dongdaemun in Seoul early in the morning to buy clothes to sell. Since he was constantly traveling by car, the mileage on his car reached 500,000 kilometers. So, I decided to change his car quickly and upgraded it to a festival vehicle."

When asked if he had changed the car again, V replied, "Yes, I changed it twice. It's the best thing to do," proudly sharing his filial piety.

V emotionally shared, "My father's hardships were all embedded in those 500,000 kilometers. I always remind myself to be a good son, but my dad also sees the need to be a good father. It hurts my heart. Of course, my dad didn't ask for it, but I wanted to make a change. I wanted to help. I don't know. My dad doesn't like to show his tears, so maybe he cried in private. It's natural because he is my dream."

Despite his strong bond with his father, V had a more relaxed relationship with his siblings. When asked if they bragged about him to their friends, he firmly stated, "No, they never do. They don't tell friends anything about me."

He even admitted to contacting his siblings only once or twice a year and not celebrating each other's birthdays. V said, "We only celebrate our parents' birthdays. We create a group chat and ask, 'What are you going to do?'"

Furthermore, when questioned if his siblings congratulated him on reaching Billboard No. 1, V replied, "(We didn't have any contact) at all" and humorously added, "They seem unaware." He also revealed that they only call him "Oppa" (a term used for older brothers) when they need something, causing laughter among the cast and crew.
