SF9's Hwiyoung has been cast in an upcoming historical drama.

On October 27, FNC Entertainment announced, "Hwiyoung has been cast in KBS-2TV's 'The Matchmakers'. The singer plans to show his other side through it."

'The Matchmakers' is a romantic comedy historical drama. The series tells the story about a young widower, Shim Jung-woo (Rowoon), and a young widow named Jung Soon-deok (Cho Yi-hyun), joining forces to marry off four young maidens who represent Joseon.

Hwiyoung plays the role of Lee Jwa-rang, Park Bok-ki's close aide who is good at literary and martial arts.

This is his first appearance in a historical drama. Previously, Hwiyoung played various roles in web dramas such as 'Click Your Heart', 'Dokgobin is Updating', 'The Mermaid Prince: The Beginning', and KBS-2TV's 'Imitation'.

Hwiyoung also released his first solo digital single 'Drive 5' last August, marking the singer's debut as a singer-songwriter last August.

The agency stated, "Hwiyoung is active in a wide range of fields, from singer to actor," and added, "We would appreciate your interest in his varied activities."

Meanwhile, 'The Matchmakers' will premiere on October 30 at 9:45 PM.
