Pledis Entertainment's rookie boy band TWS collaborated with artist Cheon Kye-young. Cheon is a master of the 1990s comics industry. Pledis Entertainment announced on January 12, "Artist Cheon provided the original drawing of 'Unplugged Boy' for the cover design of TWS's debut album."
The drawing was used for the Weverse album version of TWS's first mini album. The cover design included drawings of Kang Hyeon-gyeom and Chae Ji-yul, the main characters of 'Unplugged Boy'.
Previously, artist Cheon Kye-young collaborated with K-pop band H.O.T. This marks the first collaboration in 25 years since then. The artist participated in character design for H.O.T.'s 'Our Vow' music video in 1998.
Pledis explained, "The title of track number 2 on Tours' first mini album is 'Unplugged Boy.' Not only is the title the same, but the identity of TWS is also similar to the main characters in the comic book."
TWS presents its own genre of 'Boyhood Pop', stimulating the emotions of boyhood. Kang Hyeon-gyeom, the main character in artist Cheon's 'Unplugged Boy', is also honest, lively, and harmless. In other words, there is a common denominator between TWS and Kang Hyeon-gyeom.
TWS expressed their gratitude through their agency, saying, "Thanks to artist Cheon Kye-young's drawing, our debut album became more meaningful."
They continued, "Thanks to artist Cheon's beautiful drawings, some may find this album refreshing, while others may find it nostalgic."
TWS will release their debut album 'Sparkling Blue' on January 22 at 6 p.m. The lead single is 'Plot Twist.'
The album consists of 5 songs, including 'Unplugged Boy', 'First Hooky', 'BFF', and 'Oh Mymy: 7s'.
The pre-order for the Weverse album version of 'Sparkling Blue' is available from January 12 at 11 a.m.
