"Friendship, Youth, and Love," Q&A from TWICE

TWICE will release its 13th mini album "With YOU-th" on major music websites at 2 p.m. on Sunday. It released a Q&A to commemorate its comeback.

TWICE released their 12th mini album "READY TO BE" in March last year, their first Japan debut album of the unit "MISAMO", "Masterpiece" in July, and Jihyo's solo debut song "Zone" in August.

It has achieved significant results in major global charts including Billboard in the U.S. The original English single "I Got You," which was pre-released prior to this comeback, topped the iTunes song charts in 41 regions around the world as of the morning of the 5th.

They also collaborated with pop singer Lauv. "I was so happy to hear this as Lauv is one of my favorite artists," Nayeon said. "I was amazed from the moment I heard the recorded version."

"With YOU-th," the 13th mini album, is the first new album in about a year. It expresses TWICE's friendship with ONCE as well as the the love they received from ONCE.

The title song is "ONE SPARK." It conveys the passion that always burns hot even when they are hit with cold wind.

"I like the intro and the ending performance. It starts with the opening our eyes and ends with the closing of our eyes," Dahyun said. "It's very special because it makes me feel connected."

The same goes for the music video. "It reminded me of all the time I've spent with the members," Nayeon said. "Watching the final product reminded me of our memories, making me feel kind of sad."

TWICE stood at large stadiums around the world, including the LA SoFi Stadium and the New York MetLife Stadium, on their fifth world tour "READY TO BE" last year. In July, they will perform at the Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa, Japan, for the first time as an overseas girl group.

Sana said, "I'm so amazed and grateful that the wishes I discussed with my members are coming true one by one," and added, "As I achieved the new record, I became more greedy and started to look forward to even more."

Lastly, they delivered their heartfelt message to ONCE all over the world. Jihyo added, "Thank you for joining this long journey of TWICE. I will continue to work hard, so please continue to support and love me."

<Following is TWICE's Q&A>

Q. It's been about a year since the release of the mini album "READY TO BE" in March 2023. Please tell us how you feel about your comeback.

Nayeon: I'm really looking forward to this short but welcoming opportunity to meet our fans. I hope we can have a lot of fun with ONCE during this promotion.

Jeongyeon: Thank you for waiting so long. Please enjoy this album, too!

Momo: I'm looking forward to it even more because it's our comeback in a year and I'm excited to meet our fans.

Sana: While preparing for the album, we talked a lot about how 'ONCE will like it'. We'll try our best to finish this promotion healthy and well.

Jihyo: I'm so happy to meet ONCE after a year. I can't wait to meet you soon.

Mina: We had a long hiatus, so thank you so much for waiting. I hope you enjoy both the new album and the title track.

Dahyun: I'm looking forward to making a comeback with a new song after a long time after the tour. I hope you support this promotion as well.

Chaeyoung: ONCE must have been waiting for this album, so we worked harder to prepare it. I hope we can spend this precious time together without any regrets.

Tzuyu: I'm so happy and excited to make our comeback as a whole group. I'm looking forward to hearing ONCE's cheers on music shows.

Q. "With You-th" is a new album that talks about the youth that TWICE and ONCE passed together and the future that they will walk together. Please introduce us to the charm of this album. What kind of album do you want the new album to be remembered by the members and ONCE?

Jeongyeon: We expressed TWICE's youth by holding and hugging each other throughout the teasing contents of the new album. I hope "With YOU-th" will be remembered as "Youth" for us and our fans.

Momo: It contains the friendship, youth, and the love from ONCE as well. I hope this album will be remembered as an album that will remind us of the moments we will make together.

Jihyo: "With You-th" contains a lot of stories about us. It has a special meaning because it's an album full of love and care for each other. I think the fans will love this album a lot because they like our teamwork and chemistry.

Q. Since the new album contains the keywords "youth", "love", and "friendship", was there anything particularly special or touching while preparing "With YOU-th"?

Nayeon: I remembered the times we had been together while shooting the trailer and music video for the pre-release song "I GOT YOU". The results reminded me of our memories, which made me feel sentimental without realizing it. (laughs)

Sana: There was a lot of act of holding hands with the members when we were shooting for the jacket or music video. Maybe that's why I felt "natural" when I filmed and monitored it, and I think I could see TWICE's precious relationship well.

Mina: There were a lot of location shots during the music video shoot, so it felt like we were all traveling together. The highlight medley video contained a lot of pictures of each other, and we hope the fans enjoy us being natural and funny.

Q. What is your favorite part of TWICE's first comeback title song, "ONE SPARK"?

Dahyun: I like the intro and the ending performance the most. It's very special because it feels like it's connected to the beginning when you open your eyes and the ending when you close your eyes.

Chaeyoung: Mina's part, "Energy that keeps burning by warming up your breath," goes really well with the performance. I think "ONE SPARK" is a fun song to watch and listen to in general, so I hope fans can watch it soon.

Tzuyu: I really like the last chorus part. Every part of the choreography for "ONE SPARK" is very exciting and charming.

Q. Jeongyeon, Dahyun and Chaeyoung wrote the lyrics for "BLOOM", "You Get Me", and "RUSH", respectively. What message did you want to share? I'm curious about the process.

Jeongyeon: "BLOOM" is a song that expresses the growth of flowers as they bloom, and I wrote the lyrics focusing on depicting the process of blooming.

Dahyun: I focused on the lyrics when I was working on "YOU GET ME". Because the first track "I GOT YOU" is finished with the last track "YOU GET ME", I wanted to capture the message that "Together we achieve a complete world". I think it will be a good song to remember when I look back on.

Chaeyoung: It's the trendy music that I listen to the most these days, the Jersey Club beat, so I wanted to work on it. I wrote it full of my desire to write cute, lovely, and funny lyrics, and I hope the fans enjoy it.

Q. The pre-release song "I GOT YOU" was a collaboration with Lauv, a world-renowned artist. How did TWICE and Lauv meet? How did you feel about working together?

Nayeon: I was so happy to hear this as Lauv is one of my favorite artists of all time. The company gave me a recording with the news of the collaboration, and I was amazed from the moment I heard it.

Jihyo: Personally, I really like a lot of songs by Lauv, and it was amazing that we were working together. If there is a good opportunity in the future, I would like to work together once again. I was also really thankful as LAUV actively promoted the release of the song personally.

Chaeyoung: Unfortunately, we couldn't meet in person because we were performing in South America when the song came out. I really want to say thank you in person for making our song shine someday! And I hope we can sing together again.

Q. From the pre-release song "I GOT YOU" to the new album "With You-th," you can feel TWICE's youth, passion and excitement. Can you describe "youth" in one word? What's the driving force behind TWICE's youth?

Jeongyeon: "Nothing to be scared of!" I think the reason why TWICE's youth was beautiful was because we relied on each other and got along well.

Momo: My youth is TWICE. We were able to be more beautiful because we received so much love from ONCE.

Sana: In short, we've been together for 9 years! ONCE is our driving force, and I think what made TWICE's youth was our desire to show something to ONCE.

Q. You can feel a strong bond with TWICE's youth in the title track and music video, including the album. Is there a moment when you realized that 'TWICE=1' is real? I wonder what it means to have members who have been friends for a long time.

Mina: I feel it the most during the promotion. It was different from when we performed as a whole unit. I thought, 'There are so many moments when we can lean on each other when all 9 of us are together'.

Dahyun: When the members talk about what I was thinking and do the same thing at the same time. For example, there are moments when we look in the mirror while practicing choreography and we all sweep our heads together. (laughs) When that happens, I realize, 'Wow! We really are one mind all together!'

Tzuyu: I think we're almost like a family because we've been together for such a long time. I think we feel like we're one, especially when we're on stage and when we're having a hard time.

Q. It must have been very impressive as the 5th world tour "READY TO BE" was the first and the best in major stadiums around the world, including LA SoFi Stadium and New York MetLife Stadium. In July this year, TWICE will be the first overseas girl group to perform at Nissan Stadium in Japan. Please introduce your secret of TWICE, gaining global popularity in its 10th year.

Nayeon: I think performance on stage is professionally important and all the members are very serious about this, so I think about it a lot and I'm quite passionate about it. Thankfully, the fans recognize our heartfelt work as one, and I believe this is the secret to global popularity.

Jeongyeon: I think the secret is that we get along well together. And I think we're working harder because everyone at the company is rooting for TWICE.

Sana: It's amazing and I'm thankful that all the things we've been saying as wishes are coming true one by one. Seeing that we've achieved a new record after a long time of activities, I think the secret is to look at higher goals together.

Q. What was the most memorable moment when you looked back on the world tour "READY TO BE"? Is there a message of support that gave you strength?

Momo: I remember the energy of the audiences at the recent stadium in Mexico and Brazil. And I also remember and felt sorry for the fans in foreign countries as they said they had waited for a long time.

Jihyo: We're going to go to the Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa, Japan in July. It's a concert hall that we've always dreamed of going to since our debut, and it's an honor to be able to perform at that venue as a singer.

Mina: During the last world tour, "TWICE WORLD TOUR 2019 "TWICELIGHTS", I heard from the members that "Mexico ONCE's cheering sound was amazing". But this time, it was fun and meaningful because I could feel it myself.

Q. Do you have any messages to ONCE who have been with TWICE all over the world?

Nayeon: You've been with us for a long time, and we were able to get energy from you. Thank you so much. I look forward to your continued support.

Jeongyeon: It's amazing and I'm always grateful that we were able to become one with music even though the languages were different. I hope ONCE and TWICE will be really happy while we're together, and we'll work harder so that you can have fun.

Momo: Thank you for always supporting us. I hope we can meet more ONCE in more regions in the future, and we will try our best to show you various sides of TWICE.

Sana: Thank you for sharing all our moments with us. I think we can make our own path together if ONCE follows us like we've done so far. There's nothing happier than that!

Jihyo: Thank you for always walking with us, and we'll continue to work hard, so I hope ONCE will support us and love us.

Mina: Thank you for sharing every moment with us and making every moment meaningful. I hope we can continue to make precious memories together in the future.

Dahyun: I think "READY TO BE" is the first time we've visited many places overseas for a long time. Some places we visited for the first time and some places we went again after a long time. We were touched by the huge welcoming. I hope we can go to places that we couldn't visit during this tour. We'll visit ONCE again, so I hope we can make good memories. And I hope it's a comeback that ONCE can enjoy together.
