SEVENTEEN's education campaign #Going Together with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO has reaped a harvest in East Timor.
"Two local learning centers in East Timor built with Seventeen's Going Together donation opened in April," Pledis Entertainment announced today.
The centers were built in Ouakushi and Manatuto provinces. The centers will offer a variety of life skills and literacy classes, including computer, sewing, Korean, and English. It is expected that more than 300 underprivileged people will have the opportunity to learn.
Since August 2022, SEVENTEEN has been organizing "Going Together" with the Korean Commission for UNESCO. It has been spreading the importance of education around the world for good.
As part of the campaign, SEVENTEEN used part of the proceeds from its world tour performances in the same year and donations through making their own font the following year to support education in Malawi, Africa. SEVENTEEN also ran a campagin booth.
That's not all. Last November, SEVENTEEN was allotted a special session at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France. Members spoke and performed for about an hour.
At the time, SEVENTEEN said, "Learning can change a person, expand their dreams, and even change the world," and pledged to help build educational infrastructure in third countries for a better educational future.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN has been spreading goodwill since their debut. They have consistently donated to children's organizations, children's foundations, and the vulnerable.
