G-Dragon will participate in the 'Innovate Korea 2024' event at KAIST on June 5th, alongside the CEO of Galaxy Corporation, Choi Yong-ho.
According to KAIST on the 28th, G-Dragon and Choi Yong-ho will join KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung in a talk show at the 'Innovate Korea 2024', which is hosted by the Herald Media Group.
The relationship between KAIST and Galaxy Corporation began at KAIST's 2022 graduation ceremony. At that time, KAIST made headlines by using a virtual avatar of President Lee, appearing as his younger self to deliver a speech. The technology for this avatar was provided by Galaxy Corporation.
Founded in 2019, Galaxy Corporation is an 'enter-tech' company pioneering new content markets by merging IP with cutting-edge digital technologies like the metaverse and avatars. They have produced popular shows such as 'Physical: 100 Season 2,' which topped Netflix's Global Non-English TV show category, 'Street Woman Fighter.' Last December, Galaxy Corporation expanded its IP reach into entertainment by signing G-Dragon.
Galaxy Corporation is on the verge of becoming a unicorn following recent global investments with international investment banks. On May 27th, KAIST and Galaxy Corporation signed an MOU to strengthen their collaboration, aiming to integrate advanced scientific and technological capabilities into the global K-Pop industry.
As part of their partnership, the two organizations plan to establish the 'Galaxy Corporation-KAIST Future Technology Research Center.' This center will focus on research and development in AI and other future technologies, as well as their commercialization. Choi Yong-ho stated, "At the 'Galaxy Corporation-KAIST Future Technology Research Center,' we plan to introduce unprecedented 'music tech' through an AI-powered fandom platform. We aim to secure technology for global expansion, including preparations for the first AI metaverse concert at the massive 'Sphere' venue in Las Vegas."
KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung remarked, "This collaboration with Galaxy Corporation is an excellent opportunity to apply KAIST's scientific and technological expertise on a global stage through K-Content and culture. Based on KAIST's DNA of exploration and research, I look forward to working with CEO Choi and G-Dragon to drive innovation in the enter-tech market and contribute to the global spread and growth of K-Culture."
