"Sorry for the traffic, filming music video"... Lisa compensates Thai shopkeepers

Blackpink's Lisa paid neighbourhood shopkeepers for filming her new music video.

"The singer paid 20,000 baht (about $750,000) to nearby shops for their cooperation during the three-hour music video shoot," Hong Kong's South China Morning Post and other foreign media said.

Previously, Lisa visited Yaowarat Road in Bangkok, Thailand's Chinatown in May. The street was completely closed from 2 to 5 am. She was filming a music video for "Rockstar.

She offered shopkeepers 20,000 baht in compensation for the noise and inconvenience caused by the filming, which was later revealed to be a heartwarming gesture.

Meanwhile, Lisa released "Rockstar" on the 28th of last month. Upon its release, the song reached No. 8 on Spotify's global chart. This is the biggest debut for a female solo artist in K-pop.

The music video has also been receiving a lot of attention since its release. In particular, crowds have been flocking to Yaowarat Road, where the video was filmed. The Thai government has announced that it plans to utilise the area as a tourist resource.

"I would like to thank Lisa for choosing Yaowarat as the location for the music video and turning it into a world-famous attraction," said Bangkok Mayor Chatuchak Sittiphan, who also announced plans to create a pedestrianised street.
