Sasaeng fans who stole EXO and NCT's personal information were sentenced to fines.
On the 10th, SM Entertainment reported the results of a complaint regarding the theft of personal information related to EXO and NCT on the reporting site 'Gwangya 119'.
In April last year, some Sasaeng fans impersonated delivery drivers during a Twitter live broadcast and disclosed the artists' personal information to the public.
SM filed a complaint on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
The police identified four suspects. Among them, two people who called the artist directly were sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
The defendants all admitted to the crime. The two defendants were each sentenced to a fine of 3 million won.
SM said, “We are deeply grateful to our fans for their reports, which have helped us take legal action against illegal acts targeting artists.”
The damage continues. The agency complained, "The practice of obtaining artists' phone numbers and home addresses without permission to call or visit them has been going on for a long time."
The agency pointed out, "The artist is complaining of pain and has endured it because he is a celebrity, but he is complaining of serious mental pain. This is a serious criminal act."
SM plans to respond with a zero tolerance policy. “Please immediately stop invading the artist’s privacy,” he said, adding, “Please be careful not to get involved in unpleasant matters.”
