Singer IU drove 10 hours to Washington to meet her waiting fans after her flight was cancelled, and it is a topic of discussion among fans in the United States.

According to the Chosun Daily on the 24th, IU (real name Lee Ji Eun) impressed her fans by revealing this during a performance in Washington DC on the 22nd (local time).

IU recently kicked off a tour of the Americas this month as part of her world tour ("2024 IU H.E.R.E.H. World Tour Concert").

Her third concert in the United States was held at the Capital One Arena in the heart of Washington, DC. Capital One Arena is home to the NBA's Washington Wizards and is known for hosting big-name performances.

IU's performance, which was highly anticipated by local media and residents since tickets went on sale, was a huge success, with many fans showing up to fill the arena to capacity.

During her performance, IU revealed that she had travelled for 10 hours by car in fluent English. In fact, on the 19th, U.S. airports had been experiencing several days of cancellations due to Microsoft's cloud service outage.

IU, who had to fly to Washington after a concert in Atlanta, was also stranded by the cancellations.

"My flight was cancelled, so for the first time in my life, I had a driver drive me. I drove 10 hours on the highway all night," he says, showing his responsibility to his fans.

"It was very hard, but I felt like it was worth it because I was opening and I was hearing you screaming," she added, leading the crowd to cheer.

"I'm the happiest person in the world," IU said in response to the overwhelming reception she received from her fans in the US.

IU, who made her debut in 2008 at the age of 15, will be performing in the U.S. for the first time in 16 years, demonstrating her popularity beyond her home country. IU's family, including her parents and nephew, were also present at the event.

Meanwhile, IU has been in a public relationship with actor Lee Jong Suk.
