Seungri "club event not true...will sue"

Former BIGBANG member Seungri is preparing to take legal action against a club that falsely promoted his appearance at an event.

On the 13th, an Indonesian club that falsely announced the former BIGBANG member's attendance has apologised and cancelled the event, according to Daily Sports. However, Seungri will continue to take a hard line against the club.

On the 9th (local time), US Hallyu media outlet Allkpop reported that "Seungri will be attending the 'Burning Sun Surabaya' event in Indonesia as a guest." In response, Seungri, who retired from the club after the "Burning Sun Gate" scandal, was criticised for being "unrepentant".

In response, Seungri said, "The reports about the club are completely untrue. I'm embarrassed that something so untrue has spread so far," he said. "I don't even know where it is, and I have no plans to make a guest appearance," he added.

As the controversy escalated, the Gentlemen's Club, which organised the event, uploaded an apology video to its official account and cancelled the event. "We apologise to Korean music fans, especially K-pop singers and all fandoms, for the poster we posted on TSV Management's official account a few days ago," the club said, adding that "many misunderstandings have arisen in the media and news about the poster."

The club also clarified that "we would like to emphasise that the poster we distributed did not say anything about bringing back Seungri." However, the poster released at the time had Seungri's face printed large in the middle, with the words "Best Honours" written across it.

"We are currently preparing a lawsuit and will be filing it next week," Seungri said, confirming that he will continue to pursue legal action against the club. He also responded to rumours surrounding him, such as his plans to run the club's business overseas, saying, "It's not true at all and I have no plans to do so."

Seungri, meanwhile, made waves in the entertainment industry in 2020 with his controversial "Burning Sun Gate" scandal, and was sentenced to one year and six months in prison after being charged with nine counts of prostitution, prostitution, and habitual gambling.
