Yeonjun of Tomorrow X Together apologized for uploading photos of Japanese streets on Liberation Day.
On the 16th, Yeonjun said on his SNS, "I did not respect the historical meaning and significance of Liberation Day and showed a careless attitude by uploading photos."
He previously released several photos of Japanese streets on the 15th. However, netizens continued to point out that it was inappropriate to upload photos of Japan on Liberation Day.
Yeonjun said, "I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my wrongdoings," and promised, "I will reflect on my shortcomings and be more careful so that this kind of thing does not happen again in the future."
It's not just Yeonjun. Felix of Stray Kids also apologized for mentioning an inappropriate song on Liberation Day. He had previously announced a Japanese animation challenge during his communication with fans.
Felix bowed his head, saying, "I sincerely apologize for being careless and inattentive on this meaningful Liberation Day," and "I am deeply reflecting on my lack of historical awareness."
On the other hand, there were stars who spread good influence on Liberation Day. Song Hye-kyo, along with Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University, donated 10,000 copies of guidebooks to the 'Lee Tae-joon Memorial Hall' located in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Lee Young-ae also made a donation on Liberation Day. She donated 100 million won to the Japanese Forced Mobilization Victims Support Foundation under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Her father is known to have been a veteran of the Korean War.
T-ara's Ham Eun-jung also joined in on this extraordinary good deed. She teamed up with Professor Seo Kyung-deok to release a multilingual video introducing independence activist and poet Lee Yuk-sa.
And that's not all. Singer Sean, Yoon Se-ah, Im Si-wan, Im Se-mi, and Jo Won-hee also participated in the donation run on Liberation Day. Yoon Se-ah added, "Thank you. I won't forget. Fighting, Republic of Korea."
