Actors Kim Tae-ri, Shin Ye-eun, Ra Mi-ran, Jung Eun-chae, and Kim Yoon-hye have transformed into women's national theater troupes.
tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'Jeong Nyeon' (written by Choi Hyo-bi, directed by Jung Ji-in) revealed its first poster on the 21st. It features the drama's main stage, the national theater, and the five members of the 'Maeran Women's National Theater Troupe'.
'Jeong Nyeon' is set in the 1950s, right after the Korean War. It depicts the competition, solidarity, and brilliant growth surrounding 'Jeong Nyeon', a natural vocal genius who challenges herself to become the best national theater actress.
Kim Tae-ri plays the vocal genius 'Yoon Jeong-nyeon'. Jeong-nyeon came to Seoul from Mokpo alone to become a national theater actress. In the poster, her eyes, filled with talent, sparkle.
Shin Ye-eun plays 'Heo Yeong-seo'. Yeongseo is a solid talent who is good at singing, dancing, and acting. She is a true saint among saints with her family background. She portrays a rivalry with Jeongnyeon with sharp eyes.
Ra Mi-ran plays the role of 'Kang So-bok', the leader of Maeran Gukgeuk Troupe. So-bok adds weight with her cool and bold charisma. Jung Eun-chae plays the prince 'Moon Ok-kyung' of Maeran Gukgeuk Troupe. Kim Yoon-hye transforms into princess 'Seo Hye-rang'.
Another poster depicts a romantic and human street in the 1950s. Kim Tae-ri is looking at the signboard of the Gukgeuk Troupe, filled with admiration. We can also see her becoming the main character on stage.
'Jeongnyeon' is based on a webtoon of the same name. Kim Tae-ri is well known as the muse of the original work. She will vividly portray Jeongnyeon. The production will be directed by PD Jeong Ji-in of MBC-TV's 'Red Sleeves'.
The production team said, "We did our best to convey the charm of the women's national theater that was popular in the 1950s to the viewers," and asked for anticipation, saying, "We will come to you with a drama that has all three elements: the passionate performances of the actors, sensational directing, and a story." 'Jeongnyeon' is scheduled to air for the first time on October 12th at 9:20 PM.
