NewJeans has issued an ultimatum to Hybe. A public request was made to reinstate former Adore CEO Min Hee-jin.
On the afternoon of the 11th, NewJeans held a live broadcast on their YouTube channel. Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Hyein, and Haerin stood in front of the camera in a darkened room and spoke for about 30 minutes.
Hyein began by saying, “Some of you Bunnies (fandom name) may have been surprised by this sudden appearance, but we wanted to share our thoughts and opinions about what happened.”
She explained the reason for the live stream. “Even though it's only been a short time since the CEO was dismissed, it's been hard to see so many people I've worked with suffering under unfair demands and pressure,” she said.
“I was worried about the future of the five of us. We had a meeting with the current management and shared our opinions, but we didn't feel like we were clear about what we wanted and felt like there was a communication breakdown.” (NewJeans)
Minji commented on former CEO Min Heejin. “We had a lot of issues from before our debut until now. But I loved working with her, and because all the members were on the same page, we were able to prepare well and perform well.”
“Even after we debuted, there were a lot of unreasonable things that happened,” Haerin said, ”Private records such as videos and medical records from our training days were made public. I really couldn't understand that the company couldn't manage these materials and leaked them.”
“Together with my parents and CEO Min, We asked Hybe for protection, but Hybe ignored the request and the CEO was dismissed,” she said. ”I didn't know who to trust and rely on in the future. After much thought and decision, I gained courage.”
NewJeans shared an anecdote about the injustices they've faced. Hanni said, “The other day, I ran into the manager with other team members in the hallway on the fourth floor of Hybe. He said, 'Ignore me' in a voice I could hear,” Hanni said.
But the company didn't do anything about it. “I told the new CEO. She said there was no evidence and it was too late. I was being honest, and I felt like a liar,” she says.
She also expressed her fears about the current situation. “It's so hard now that we don't have anyone to protect us. I'm worried about the future, but I'm also scared that the work we've done is under threat,” she said.
Another comment was made about Shin Woo-seok, the head of the dolphin abduction organization. “I would like you to honor the directors you worked with. What you are doing now is not for us,” Minji emphasized.
Danielle added, “Our dream was to be on stage with CEO Min and the music we wanted to do, and we were working so hard for that. Now we can't do it. We may not be able to fulfill all of our plans,” she said.
“We were just working for our dream, so what did we do wrong?” she asked Hybe. “It just seems like an inhuman company,” she said, adding, “On the human side, please stop harassing our CEO Min Hee-jin.”
“We almost lost the work that symbolizes the relationship between NewJeans and Bunnies,” Haerin said. “We don't want to lose anything else,” she said, adding, “We don't want to conform, sympathize, or go along with the society they're in.
Again, Hyein commented on Min's dismissal. “I found out about it through an article the same day. It was so sudden and unexpected,” Hyein said, adding, ”Honestly, it was very difficult and embarrassing. I didn't feel like they cared about us.”
Finally, Minji concluded, “For half a year now, there has been a constant stream of unnecessary and tiring things about NewJeans. As a party, we feel very uncomfortable. What we want is the original ADOR, where management and production are integrated, with CEO Min as the head.”
NewJeans said, “Hybe is an inhuman company. Mr. Bang, and Hybe, please make a wise decision to bring back the adore by the 25th. Thank you for listening to our story,” and ended the livestream.
