Actress Kim Hee-sun has transformed into an art content director. Last September, she already gathered the works of masters in one place. This time, she is promoting K-art in the heart of New York.
Kim Hee-sun took her first step as an art content director in September of last year. She held a free exhibition titled 'ATO: Beautiful Gift Exhibition' to celebrate her 30th debut anniversary. This is to share the value of K-contemporary art with the public.
The masters she introduced at the time were Park Seo-bo, Lee Ufan, Park Seok-won, Kim Kang-yong, Kang Hyung-goo, and Lee Lee-nam. They are all masters and legends of Korean contemporary art that the world is paying attention to.
Artist Park Seo-bo is the father of monochrome painting, which needs no introduction. Artist Lee Ufan is the founder of 'Monoha'. Artist Park Seok-won is a giant of Korean contemporary abstract sculpture painting.
Artist Kang Hyung-goo is the face of portraiture that pioneered fictional realism. Artist Kim Kang-yong is a symbol of Korean hyperrealism. Artist Lee Nam is a leading figure in media art. He is called the second Nam June Paik.
Kim Hee-sun said, "We have invited world-class artists from Korea to New York in just one year," and expressed her ambition, saying, "We will show off the charm of Korean modern art and K-art at the center of world culture."
'H Art' said, "Last year, 35,000 people visited the exhibition and enjoyed the works of the masters," and added, "We want to move this to New York and share the wonders of Korean art with people around the world."
They continued, "Kim Hee-sun wanted to express her gratitude for the 30th anniversary of her debut," and explained, "We started planning with the intention of sharing Korean pure art with more people."
'H Art' is an arttainment gallery. It aims to expand K-content in a new way by combining popular culture and pure art. Kim Hee-sun is promoting K-art herself as a content director.
Kim Hee-sun said, "I visited the teachers in person to appreciate their works and hear about their lives as artists," and added, "That space was healing itself. I want to share this beautiful moment (more) with the public."
'ATO: Beautiful Gift Collection Exhibition in New York' will open on October 10th at 'AP Space' in Chelsea, New York's cultural district. The exhibition will be open to New Yorkers and art professionals until the 23rd of next month.
Foreign media is also paying special attention to the exhibition. 'Forbes' reported, "This is a special opportunity to see the works of Korean modern art masters in one place."
Kim Hee-sun will serve as director. She will personally introduce the works of the masters in New York. Korean Air, Samsung Electronics, and others have also provided support.
'H Art' added, "Kim Hee-sun will cross the boundaries between popular culture and pure art," and "She plans to continue her role as a content director who continuously introduces representative Korean artists and works."
