Actor Kim Heeseon is exhibiting in New York alongside six masters of Korean contemporary art. This is the New York edition of the 'ATO' exhibition, which she also directed.
Kim Heeseon took her first step as an art content director last September. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of her acting debut, the exhibition 'ATO; A Beautiful Gift' was opened to the public for free.
Kim Heeseon spent a year traveling around the country and gathering works from some of the biggest names in Korean contemporary art, including Park Seobo, Lee Ufan, Park Suk Won, Kim Kang-yong, Kang Hyung-koo, and Lee Lee-nam.
The ATO New York exhibition is an extension of the Seoul show. “We have brought back to New York the world-class artists that Korea has to offer,” said Kim Hee-sun, ”and we will showcase the charm of Korean contemporary art at the center of global culture.”
Park Seobo is the father of the self-explanatory Dansaekhwa. Lee Ufan is a giant of contemporary art who recorded a page in art history as the founder of Monoha. Park Suk Won is a giant of Korean contemporary abstract sculpture and painting.
Kang Hyung-koo is the face of portraiture who pioneered fictional realism. 'Brick painter' Kim Kang-yong is a symbol of Korean hyper-realism, and Lee Lee-nam is a representative of media art who has been called the next Nam June Paik.
“Last year, 35,000 people visited the 'ATO' exhibition in a short period of time to see the world of the masters,” said H ART.ent, ”and now we want to share the wonders of Korean art with the world in New York.”
H ART is an art entertainment gallery that combines pop culture and fine art to expand K-content in a new way. Kim Heeseon is the director and host of the gallery, and she has taken on the role of promoting the charm of Korean fine art.
'ATO ; A Beautiful Gift in NEW YORK' will open on October 10 at 'AP Space' in Chelsea, New York's Cultural District. It will be open to the public until November 23rd.
The American foreign press is also paying special attention to ATO. 'Forbes' expressed its excitement for the exhibition, saying, “A unique opportunity to see the works of Korean contemporary art masters in one place.”
Kim Heeseon once again served as director. She will introduce the works of the masters in person in New York. Korean Air and Samsung Electronics also supported the exhibition, as it is a K-Art exhibition that New York is paying attention to.
“I visited the artists, appreciated their works, and listened to their lives as artists,” says Kim Heeseon, ”That moment was healing for me. I wanted to share it with the public,” she said.
“Kim Heeseon will continue her role as the director of H ART, crossing the boundaries between pop culture and fine art, and continuously introducing Korean artists and their works,” said the organization.
