BTS's V has captured the hearts of Japanese music fans, achieving a significant milestone with his solo album.
On October 10, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) revealed the Gold Disc certification list on its official website. Albums that surpassed a specific number of cumulative shipments in the previous month received certifications.
V's first solo album, 'Layover,' was certified Platinum. This achievement comes about a year after the album's release, with more than 250,000 copies shipped in Japan alone.
The certification levels are based on shipment numbers: Gold (100,000 units), Platinum (250,000 units), Double Platinum (500,000 units), Triple Platinum (750,000 units), and Million (1,000,000 units).
This is V's first time earning a Platinum certification for a solo album. Thanks to the release of the LP version, 'Layover' also topped the Oricon Daily Album Ranking on September 30.
'Layover' is an album that reflects the charm of Kim Taehyung as a person. It symbolizes a moment of rest to reflect on the journey so far and to revisit one's final destination.
The album soared to the top of the Oricon Daily Album Ranking, and the title track 'Slow Dancing' also reached No. 1 on the Daily Digital Single Ranking, dominating two charts.
Meanwhile, V enlisted in the military last December, and his expected discharge date is June 10 next year.
