BTS's Jimin Suffers Financial Damage from Comedian Lee Jin-ho
Big Hit Music confirmed to Dispatch on the 14th, "It is true that Jimin suffered financial damage," and added, "A promissory note was issued for the loan."
However, the agency declined to comment on the specific amount or whether partial repayment had been made. It is reported that Jimin incurred losses ranging from tens of millions to over a hundred million Korean won.
On the same day, Lee Jin-ho admitted to illegal online gambling via his personal social media. He confessed that he started illegal gambling games in 2020 and fell deeply into debt.
Lee stated, "I stopped gambling out of fear that I might never be able to return to my work, but by then, I had already received financial help from many people."
He expressed his intention to steadily repay his large debts. "I am paying back money every month, and I plan to repay all of it before I die," he said.
There are other victims besides Jimin, including singer Ha Sung-woon and broadcaster Lee Soo-geun. Lee Jin-ho apologized, saying, "I am sorry to those who trusted me and lent me money."
He reiterated his plan to repay the debt, promising, "I will repay my debts no matter what, and I will take responsibility for my wrongdoings."
