Actors Ma Dong-seok and Park Hyung-sik will unite in an action blockbuster.
On October 22, 'STUDIO X+U' announced, "The global project 'Twelve' has been confirmed for production, with Ma Dong-seok and Park Hyung-sik cast in leading roles. The film will present a powerful and fresh combination."
'Twelve' is a fantasy action blockbuster inspired by the concept of the 12 zodiac animals of Eastern mythology. It tells the story of 12 angels living in human form to protect humanity from evil spirits.
The film will feature epic battles against an evil faction attempting to awaken sealed powers within the human world. A representative hinted, "The intense chemistry between Ma Dong-seok and Park Hyung-sik will be something to watch."
Ma Dong-seok will play 'Tae-san,' the leader of the 12 zodiac guardians, symbolizing the tiger. Park Hyung-sik will portray 'Oh-gwi,' symbolizing the crow, a force of evil awakened from its seal.
'Twelve' revives the mythology of the 12 zodiac guardians and angels through a modern lens, blending Eastern and Western storytelling. The term 'Twelve' refers to the angels who descended to protect humanity from demonic forces.
Long ago, the angels narrowly managed to seal the forces of evil behind the gates of hell, restoring peace. However, thousands of years later, the demons awaken, bringing chaos once again.
The production company shared, "This project will bridge Eastern and Western cultural elements, including the 12 zodiac guardians and sealed demons. It will offer expansive action, dazzling visuals, and a universally engaging narrative."
The film will be directed by Kang Dae-gyu, known for his detailed direction in films such as 'Harmony' and 'Pawn.' The production is a collaboration between Contents G, Big Punch Pictures, STUDIO X+U, and Nova Film.
'Twelve' is scheduled for release in 2025.
