ATTRAKT Files Major Damages Lawsuit Against Warner Music Korea

ATTRAKT has filed a significant damages lawsuit against Warner Music Korea.

On October 23, ATTRAKT announced, “We have filed a lawsuit seeking damages amounting to approximately 20 billion KRW against former Warner Music Korea CEO Clayton Jin (Jin Seung-young) and current Executive Director Yoon Hyung-geun, who are suspected of tampering.”

The company asserted that Warner Music Korea was clearly involved in the controversy surrounding FIFTY FIFTY. “Warner Music Korea played a critical role in the contract dispute involving the former members of FIFTY FIFTY, engaging in illegal tampering.”

ATTRAKT stated that they have collected evidence to support their claims. “On May 17 of last year, Warner Music Korea held a tampering meeting with the parents of the former members at their headquarters. We have secured key evidence from that meeting.”

The company emphasized that they will hold the alleged collaborators, Clayton Jin and Yoon Hyung-geun, accountable. “Their illegal actions, which obstructed the normal activities of the former members, have caused significant damage.”

Jeon Hong-jun, CEO of ATTRAKT, remarked, “It is an unforgivable act of shamelessness for a branch of Warner Music, one of the world’s top three record companies, to attempt to poach valuable artists from a small agency.”

Jeon added, “The actual damages caused by Warner Music Korea’s tampering are even higher. We are initially seeking 20 billion KRW in compensation, but we plan to increase the claim later.”

An industry insider commented, “This lawsuit has raised awareness about illegal tampering in the K-pop industry. The outcome could have a significant impact on future contract practices in the entertainment sector.”

In June of last year, ATTRAKT announced the suspension of FIFTY FIFTY’s activities. During this period, external forces allegedly approached the members, urging them to breach their exclusive contracts with the agency.

Previously, Dispatch uncovered evidence, including recordings, of Ahn Sung-il’s involvement in the tampering. In May of last year, Ahn gathered the former members and their parents, suggesting filing for a preliminary injunction and signing with Warner Music’s label.

Behind Ahn Sung-il was Warner Music Korea. Under guidance from Ahn and Warner, the members attempted to sever ties with ATTRAKT. A month later, they demanded contract termination, citing issues with unpaid settlements.
