Jennie of BLACKPINK and Jaehyun of NCT's New Songs Banned from KBS Broadcast
KBS announced on October 23rd via its official website that two newly released songs—Jennie's "Mantra" and Jaehyun's "Unconditional"—have been deemed unfit for broadcast.
The rejection was due to violations of Article 46 of the broadcasting review regulations, which restrict advertising effects. The lyrics of both songs were found to contain references to specific product brands, leading to the ban.
"Mantra" mentions brands such as the Land Rover Defender and In-N-Out Burger. OA Entertainment, Jennie's agency, responded by saying, "We have no plans to alter the lyrics."
If the flagged sections are modified or removed, the songs can be resubmitted for review. Upon approval after re-evaluation, the tracks would become eligible for broadcast.
"Mantra" carries an empowering message, encouraging individuals to shine in their own unique way with confidence. The song has been performing well on global charts, including Billboard and Spotify.
Jaehyun's "Unconditional" is an R&B pop track that blends a funky bass rhythm with soulful choir sounds. The song is scheduled for release on October 24th at 6 p.m.
Despite the KBS ban, both songs are expected to continue their success through other platforms and international channels.
