Singer Jessi has issued a sincere apology to the victim of an assault.
On October 23, Jessi posted a lengthy apology on Instagram, starting with, "I extend my deepest apologies to the person harmed and their family for the incident."
Jessi became embroiled in controversy for allegedly failing to intervene in an assault involving a fan. It was reported that a minor fan had been assaulted, and Jessi did not take appropriate action to stop it.
In her statement, Jessi admitted, "My improper behavior, attitude, and inaction hurt the victim and many others. I made them feel betrayed and angry," expressing her regret.
She continued, "I have regretted it thousands and tens of thousands of times. If only I could go back to that moment," reflecting on her actions. "Everything is my responsibility," she added, showing deep remorse.
Jessi further reflected, "If I had taken a photo with the victim, if I had protected them more actively, if I had gone to the police immediately, or if I had properly apologized, the victim would not have suffered so much."
In closing, she wrote, "I know that one word of apology is not enough for forgiveness. I will make every effort to correct my mistakes and support the victim’s recovery. I am truly sorry."
The incident occurred in the early hours of September 29, in Apgujeong, Gangnam. A fan (referred to as A) recognized Jessi and asked for a photo, but Jessi declined, citing the late hour.
However, shortly afterward, one of Jessi's companions assaulted the fan. While Jessi attempted to intervene, she eventually left the scene and continued drinking with others.
The Gangnam Police Station is currently investigating the assault. Jessi appeared for questioning on October 16. It was reported that she explained, "The assailant has no connection to me. He is a Chinese friend of a producer I know."
In light of the incident, Jessi has also parted ways with her current agency, DOD.
