Cube Entertainment Responds to Rumors of (G)I-DLE's Jeon Soyeon Not Renewing Contract
Cube Entertainment (hereafter "Cube") has released a statement addressing rumors surrounding the contract renewal of Jeon Soyeon, a member of (G)I-DLE.
On the 25th, Cube told TV Report, "Discussions regarding Jeon Soyeon's contract renewal are ongoing. Scheduled activities will proceed as planned."
Jeon Soyeon's future in the entertainment industry has drawn significant public attention. Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that she would be leaving Cube after failing to reach a renewal agreement.
Jeon Soyeon's exclusive contract with Cube is set to expire in November.
Last month, she stirred controversy during (G)I-DLE's solo stage at their third world tour, held at the KSPO Dome in Seoul, when she altered lyrics to say, "Contract ends in November, who can stop me," accompanied by profanity.
At the time, Cube commented, "We were not informed about the specific details of her solo performance." In response, Jeon Soyeon clarified, "I didn't lie in the performance nor intentionally hide anything from the company. We ran multiple rehearsals together, and everyone worked on the stage collaboratively." Her statement fueled rumors of discord between her and the agency.
Amid the uncertainty, industry insiders speculated that Jeon Soyeon might sign with KOZ Entertainment, a label under HYBE. However, KOZ denied the rumor, stating, "We have no connection with Jeon Soyeon."
Born in 1998, Jeon Soyeon debuted with (G)I-DLE in 2018. As the group's leader and producer of most of their songs, she has earned the title "Genius Idol Composer" for her exceptional talent.
