Actors Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin team up for a mysterious melodrama. In the Netflix series "The Trunk," they will play a couple bound by a contract.

Based on the novel of the same name by Kim Ryeo-ryeong, "The Trunk" follows the story of a mysterious marriage service that comes to light after a trunk floats ashore on a lake.

The series is directed by Kim Gyu-tae, known for works like "Our Blues" and "It's Okay, That's Love." Park Eun-young, the writer of "Hwarang," joins forces for this project.

The plot delves into the complicated emotions of characters involved in marriage, portraying themes like love, empathy, salvation, obsession, desire, loneliness, and emptiness with depth and intensity.

Gong Yoo plays Han Jeong-won, a man who feels profoundly lonely despite being married. Seo Hyun-jin portrays No In-ji, a woman left alone because of marriage.

In the teaser poster, the two actors show emotionless expressions, with the tagline, "A secret marriage where real and fake are intertwined," sparking curiosity.

The trailer reveals Jeong-won and In-ji's first encounter. In-ji embarks on yet another marriage, pulling along her familiar trunk as she arrives at Jeong-won's house, becoming his fifth wife.

Jeong-won, showing reluctance, asks, "So, should I call you my wife?" as they begin their one-year contract marriage, bound by terms and conditions.

The presence of Jeong-won's ex-wife, Lee Seo-yeon (played by Jung Yoon-ha), adds further intrigue. Seo-yeon tells In-ji, "Be happy. This is the punishment and vacation I'm giving Jeong-won."

A mysterious trunk sinking deep underwater draws attention, adding to the suspense. In-ji, with a detached expression, repeats, "Marriage disgusts me," heightening anticipation.

"The Trunk" will premiere worldwide on Netflix on November 29.
