G-Dragon sparks buzz with uniquestyling on You Quiz, sporting a 150 million won brooch.
On the October 30th broadcast of tvN's You Quiz on the Block (You Quiz), G-Dragon, the eternal icon of the era, made an appearance.
Returning with his first solo album in 7 years and 4 months, G-Dragon stirred excitement by unveiling his new song "POWER" for the first time. He shared, "I came back wanting to make music again as G-DRAGON, not Kwon Ji-yong, so my goal is to have a successful comeback. 'POWER' is a song about strength. To me, strength is 'music.' During my 7-year hiatus, I came to realize the great power of media, so I wanted to incorporate satire on media power and a harmonious blend of various forces."
Naturally, as a fashion icon, G-Dragon's style became a focal point. Known for items that frequently sell out and drive up prices, the "GD effect" was on full display.
G-Dragon's look on the show caught attention, especially his black suit paired with a red tie and a daisy-shaped brooch, symbolizing his brand, PEACEMINUSONE. This brooch was a collaborative piece with Jacob & Co., crafted from 18k white gold and adorned with 9.31 carats of white diamonds, 1.94 carats of yellow sapphires, and 4.2 carats of tsavorites.
Notably, this brooch sold for $112,500 (about 150 million KRW) at Pharrell Williams' Jupiter charity auction in October.
His suit, designed by Ernest W. Baker, was also highlighted, with the jacket priced at approximately 2.06 million KRW and the trousers around 1.09 million KRW.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Corporation officially announced G-DRAGON's comeback today (31st). His digital single POWER, released at 6 p.m., marks his first solo track since his 2017 mini-album Kwon Ji-yong.
"POWER" captivates listeners with its addictive beat and G-Dragon's intense rap, exuding hip-hop appeal. Its witty, layered lyrics showcase his genius, leaving room for deeper interpretation.
Given the success of his previous EP Kwon Ji-yong, which topped the Billboard World Albums Chart and Oricon Digital Chart as the first Korean artist to do so, fans and the public alike are keenly awaiting to see what records this pre-release track will set.
