Even during his military service, BTS's V has shown the strength of his global fanbase. From October 21 to November 4, V topped the "December Birthday Idol" poll held by the global fandom platform UPICK.
The poll featured idols with December birthdays, and V secured first place with 82,773,331 votes, narrowly surpassing ZEROBASEONE's Kim Jiwoong, ENHYPEN's Sunghoon, and BTS's Jin.
As a reward for his top spot, V will have his image displayed on digital signage at Hongdae Airport Railroad.
V's success extends beyond birthday polls; he has also won three "Best Pick" polls, bringing him closer to earning a premium 15-ad package for artists with five "Best Pick" badges. This anticipation is expected to keep growing for future polls.
V's music remains popular globally, with over 3.8 billion streams as of October 30, including tracks from his solo album Layover, drama OSTs, self-composed songs, and even his military release "FRI(END)S."
V, who enlisted on December 11 last year, is currently serving in the Republic of Korea Army Capital Defense Command and is expected to complete his service by June 10, 2025.
Additionally, a touching story from V's military life emerged. On October 31, V shared a photo on his social media from a senior soldier who recently completed his service, captioning it, "Well done, Ebc1180th class." The senior soldier expressed deep gratitude toward V, saying, "When I was struggling, he offered advice, discussed interests matching mine, and even recommended books." He added, "He treated my dreams as if they were his own, showing genuine care, and when I doubted myself, he believed in me wholeheartedly."
