Former LABOUM member Yulhee has filed a lawsuit to regain custody of her three children and seek alimony and property division following allegations of inappropriate conduct involving FTISLAND's Choi Minhwan.
On November 4, Yulhee submitted a petition to the Seoul Family Court requesting a change in custody, along with claims for alimony and property division.
Yulhee was not fully aware of her legal options at the time of her divorce but has since decided to take action to secure her rights.
Yulhee and Choi Minhwan announced their divorce in December last year. At the time, Choi expressed regret, stating, "After lengthy discussions, we decided to end our marriage. We apologize to everyone who supported our decision to start a family at a young age."
Custody of their three children was initially granted to Choi. Yulhee explained that, due to practical reasons and a desire to minimize disruption to the children, they agreed that Choi would retain custody. She added, "To prevent the children from feeling my absence, I frequently spend time with them."
Despite her explanation, Yulhee faced criticism for not raising her children herself. On the TV show Now I'm Alone, she opened up about the difficulty of her decision, tearfully sharing, "What parent wouldn't want to see their children? Who wouldn't want to live with and raise them? It was the hardest choice."
After the broadcast, a YouTuber claimed that Yulhee's "running away" was the main reason for the divorce. In response, Yulhee disclosed specific details of her marriage, revealing that Choi Minhwan had once put money into her shirt, a gesture she later understood as a habit related to inappropriate behavior. She also disclosed call records between Choi and individuals from certain establishments, shocking the public.
Following the revelations, Choi Minhwan's agency commented that they were unable to provide details on the couple's private issues. However, Choi has since suspended his media appearances and FTISLAND activities.
