Haha and Ji Seok-jin Mention BLACKPINK Rosé's Hit Song 'Apartment,' Drawing Attention

Broadcasters Haha and Ji Seok-jin recently discussed BLACKPINK Rosé's new hit song Apartment, capturing viewers' interest. On the November 10 episode of Ji Pyeonhan Sesang channel, Haha and his wife, singer Byul, joined Ji Seok-jin for a conversation.

During the show, Ji Seok-jin commented on the global rise of K-pop, to which Haha added, "Rosé's Apartment is topping all streaming charts. We haven't seen a K-mega hit like this since Psy's Gangnam Style." Ji Seok-jin reminisced about the drinking game "Apartment," which they had once played on Running Man.

Haha jokingly claimed ownership of the Apartment game, saying, "We're the ones who popularized that game," causing laughter among the group. Byul humorously expressed concern over her husband's bold statement, saying, "That's a bit controversial." Unfazed, Haha continued joking, saying, "We also made actor Park Seo-joon popular. Seo-joon would know this, right?" making everyone laugh with his playful banter.

Ji Seok-jin joined in on the banter, saying, "We're the ones who made BLACKPINK what they are today," with Haha adding humorously, "Their name originally stopped at 'Black.' After appearing on Running Man, we gave them the 'Pink' part." Haha continued, "Even Seok-jin was 'raised' by (Yoo) Jae-suk," to which Ji Seok-jin, keeping a straight face, responded, "That's true," causing laughter.

On November 4, Billboard reported that Rosé's duet with pop star Bruno Mars, Apartment (APT), reached the top of both the Billboard Global (excluding U.S.) and Global 200 charts for the second consecutive week.

Apartment is the pre-release single from Rosé's first solo album, inspired by the Korean drinking game of the same name. With a lively sound and Bruno Mars's collaboration, the track has become the first song since September 2020 to achieve over 200 million global streams. Rosé shared that she initially wondered if it was appropriate to write a song about a drinking game, even asking her team to delete it from their phones. However, they were already hooked on the track.

Rosé debuted with BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa) in 2016, solidifying her place as a global icon in K-pop.
