Girl Group NewJeans Sends Notice to ADOR Threatening Contract Termination if Demands Are Not Met
Girl group NewJeans has issued a certified notice to their agency, ADOR, stating that they will terminate their exclusive contract if certain demands are not met within 14 days. Despite this, the group will continue with scheduled appearances.
NewJeans is set to perform at the 2024 Korea Grand Music Awards (KGMA) on November 16 at Inspire Arena in Incheon. The group has planned a special stage themed around freedom and liberation, with member Hanni preparing an opening performance alongside co-host actor Nam Ji-hyun.
The specifics of NewJeans' demands are currently undisclosed. However, the contents of the notice reportedly include a request for ADOR, as their management agency, to take necessary action following a statement allegedly made by HYBE suggesting they could "replace NewJeans with new plans."
In response, ADOR stated, "We have not yet received the notice, so we cannot comment on its contents."
Since conflicts between former CEO Min Hee-jin and HYBE surfaced in April, NewJeans has consistently supported Min. Following her departure, NewJeans directly requested HYBE to reinstate her.
Min Hee-jin is now demanding reinstatement as ADOR's CEO, arguing that her term, per a shareholder agreement, is guaranteed until November 1, 2026. She is pressing for her reappointment as CEO.
