"SEVENTEEN's Jun Takes on New Challenge, Starring in Chinese Fantasy Drama"
On November 18, Pledis Entertainment announced, "Jun will appear in the Chinese drama Yun Gui Xi Shi (云归喜事) as the character Wen Liangjin. Filming began on November 15."
Yun Gui Xi Shi is a fantasy-comedy historical drama based on the Chinese web novel Tangzhan. It tells a story of overcoming challenges in pursuit of justice and love. This marks the second season of the series, following its highly successful first season in 2018, which topped popularity charts on iQIYI and Weibo.
Jun will portray Wen Liangjin, a character introduced in the new season. This follows his appearance in last year's web drama Exclusive Fairytale (独家童话), where he delivered a heartwarming performance in a youthful romance.
As Jun prepares for this period drama, he shared his excitement, saying, "I'll use my desire to do well as my motivation to fully embody the character. I'll do my best."
Jun, a former child actor in China, made his acting debut in the 2006 film The Pye-Dog, which earned him a nomination for Best New Performer at the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards—the first nomination ever for a child actor.
In addition to his team activities with SEVENTEEN, Jun has continued to pursue acting. Last year, he won the Popularity Award at the Busan International Film Festival's Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards for his role in Exclusive Fairytale.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is set to release their 4th Japanese single on November 27 and is currently on their world tour, with upcoming performances at the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya on November 29-30.
